01/07 Afternoon Minute: No Thanks, Baltimore

Could Chud be staying put?

Despite rumors of Browns offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski interviewing with the offensively inept Baltimore Ravens for their vacant head coaching position, The Baltimore Sun – with a bit of confirmation from The Plain Dealer– report that Chud has taken his name out of the hat after signing an extension with Cleveland.

This may be a testament to how bad the offensive situation is in Baltimore, or it may finally be a sign that the Bobby Petrinos and Nick Sabans of the world are more of the exception rather than the “norm,” but Chudzinski now joins Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz and New England’s Josh McDaniels on the list of those who will not be entertaining offers from the Ravens.

I’m sure I can speak for many of Browns fans when I say, “Thank You” to Phil Savage for getting this done.  The turnaround that took place this season does not happen often, and for Savage to recognize that and get his deal extended speaks volumes.

Not only does this allow for one less excuse for next season, but it also makes this past off-season that much more important as the Browns spent the majority of it learning Chud’s offensive sets.  With that under the belts of Romeo Crennel’s crew, this off-season can be used to work on execution more than absorption.
